PredictLand designs an intelligent running shoe recommender for the biotech company Podoactiva, providing the runner with the shoe on the market that best suits his physical and sporting needs.
Customer
Podoactiva is a biotechnology-based company specialized in podiatry and biomechanics. It manufactures customized insoles, being a national and international reference. It has thirty of its own podiatric clinics and 170 units in hospital units in 10 countries.
Among its clients are the Spanish National Soccer Team and Real Madrid. It has been present at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Challenge
The number of amateur runners has increased significantly in recent years, which has raised the need to develop from Podoactiva an intelligent shoe recommender based on the biomechanics and anatomy of the athlete, which identifies the optimal shoe for each runner, among all those available on the market.
Solution
In the first phase of the project, an Artificial Intelligence-based shoe recommendation system is being developed that takes into account data on the characteristics of running shoes, runners’ profiles, preferences, footprint characteristics, injuries, etc. The solution personalizes the recommendation of the most appropriate shoe on the market for each runner.
Result
With the results of the project, Podoactiva estimates a 30% increase in the number of customers with a “runner” profile and a 20% increase in the demand for customized insoles after the study. As well as increasing by 100% the specialization of insoles and expertise in the sports sector (specifically in running), and optimizing orders by 15% and therefore reducing consumption, improving the environmental impact.
