CincoDias interview – Covid and teleworking accelerate diversification with the rise of ‘big data’.

This week the newspaper CincoDias has published an article in which they have counted with the opinion of PredictLand, as a Data Science company expert in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.

The economic newspaper has interviewed our head of business development, Andrés Visús, who stresses that the pandemic has accelerated the collection of data, due to teleworking and the increased use of online services, so that firms have a greater amount of information on users and some that were previously unknown, such as children or the elderly.

It is this collection of data that is causing companies to consider betting on businesses that apparently have little to do with their essence. In this sense, companies follow two types of strategies: those that have a large amount of data for their core business and decide to exploit it, and those that are born with a business idea in which data will be their core business.

For example, in the case of Telefónica, the installation of alarm devices through an agreement with Prosegur, will provide it with additional information that will allow it to know which Internet services may be of interest to the user and then offer them to them.

It is key that the customer sees that his data is used to provide services that he perceives as beneficial or appropriate to his needs. If this is not the case, the main risk is that they will exercise their rights to object to the use of their data.
